Today as your conference comes to a close it is time to head out of Geelong as you begin a week of fellowship.  We kick off the tour with a scenic trip along the Great Ocean Road – past famous Bells Beach and onto the spectacular 12 Apostles. Enroute we learn of the infamous shipwrecks and legends of this world famous coastline before heading inland to the city of Melbourne our home for the next 7 days.  We expect to arrive around 8pm at our city location.   Rest of night at leisure or you may like to take a stroll across to the Crown Casino for a small flutter.

Transport passes have been included for the duration of your stay.  Reserved Seating for the “Race that stops the Nation” and Ladies Day out at the Oaks are included in the tour price. These will be requested by the group coordinator when tickets are released either later in the year or early in 2009.

Today Melbourne city hosts the famous “Parade of Colours” where jockeys, trainers, owners and past Melbourne Cup winners, parade through the city of Melbourne.  The parade starts around 11.30am from the Paris end of Bourke Street and turns into Swanston Street travelling past Flinders Street Station.   After the parade head to the Bourke Street Mall to Myers to see milliners preparing hats for Melbourne Cup or visit many of Melbourne’s famous Arcades for some great shopping.

This evening is at leisure. You may like to order in, or join your tour escort at around 5.00pm for a short walk to Crown Casino and the "all you can eat Kings Buffet" (cost approximately $20 per head).

Today is an early start as we head to Southbank for a Champagne Breakfast, photographs, and last minute bets before heading out to the track for one of the world’s most prestigious races “The Melbourne Cup”.  Not necessarily the best day for betting, but nothing can replace the atmosphere as we join thousands of locals in all their finery at Flemington. You will have specially reserved seats so be sure and bring your race tickets and your rail pass.

After a big day out, the rest of the evening is at leisure.  Our apartments are close by a supermarket, fabulous Italian restaurant – Soprano’s, or if you are on a roll, head back to the Casino with its myriad of lounges & snackbars.

HOW TO GET THERE: In terms of getting to Melbourne many of our past passengers have utilised frequent flyer points or taken advantage of this early advice to obtain airfares early.

Travelling to Geelong for the Conference, Avalon airport is the closest airport.  At the conclusion of the Melbourne Post tour transfers will be included to Avalon airport or Tullamarine.  Please inform your consultant at time of booking which airport you will depart Melbourne at the end of the Post tour.

DRESS FOR THE POST TOUR: Slacks & Jeans are acceptable for most of the Post Touring arrangements.  For Race Days it is usual for gentleman to wear a jacket (Tie not compulsory).  Most ladies wear hats which range from colourful clips & feathers, to fascinators, and full brimmed hats.  Just remember that you may be charged for excess baggage or be required to place hat boxes in the luggage hold of the aircraft.  Smart Casual is acceptable for the farewell dinner at the Cuckoo.

Melbourne weather can be very fickle at this time of the year and for this reason we recommend that you bring a jacket, scarf, and boots.  For Race days our seats are in the Hill Stand and it is not uncommon that a breeze gets up in the afternoon.  We suggest a light scarf/shawl, cardigan or jacket if the weather is cool on the day.
